John Collins and Gareth Evans have left Livingston following a boardroom bust-up.
Director of football Collins has sensationally quit after the club’s board sacked manager Evans at a meeting on Thursday night.
The club issued a statement on their website on Thursday night which read: “Livingston Football Club announces the departure of first team manager Gareth Evans following a managers’ meeting today, where we voiced our concerns over the stewardship of the club under Gareth.
“This despite the results being generally acceptable.“John Collins, having appointed Gareth to the post despite certain reservations, has regrettably decided to tender his resignation following our decision to relieve Gareth of his duties.
“First team affairs ahead of this Saturday’s home fixture against Airdrie United will be handled by current Head of Youth Development, Richie Burke while the Board consider matters going forward."
Evans stepped into the management position when ex-boss John Hughes left Livi to take over at Hartlepool in November.
His record on the pitch has been solid with five wins and three draws in his 14 games in charge.
His removal means Livingston will be on the search for their fourth manager in a turbulent 13 months.
Collins had only been in his position as director of football for 12 months, having celebrated his 1st anniversary at the club only a fortnight ago.Since Collins arrival with now Hartlepool boss John Hughes, Livingston have enjoyed a raised profile in the media and Scottish football.
Many Livingston fans hit Twitter on Thursday night to state their confusion and anger, with only a few saying they were happy with the decision.
Burke takes over first team duties while the club seeks a replacement. He will split his workload with the responsibilities he has as development manager at the Livingston Youth Foundation.
