Livingston supporters have been asked to trust the board’s decision to axe Gareth Evans at a packed Fans Forum.
Chief Executive Ged Nixon, chairman Gordon McDougall and Livi For Life supporters trust director David Stoker held a meeting last week to allay fans’ fears over the sacking of Evans, which led to John Collins’ quitting.
And Stoker urged fans to have faith in the board’s decision.
He said: “We all go along and watch the team on a Saturday for 90 minutes and all have an opinion of the manager based on that.
“In Ged and Gordon’s situation, they are here day and night.
“This might make me unpopular but I have chosen in this situation to support the decision because I trust their judgement.
“All I can do is ask you guys to trust their judgement.”
McDougall began the forum, attended by over 200 fans, by stating that there were ‘confidentiality issues’ around disclosing too much information.
He said: “It’s not a smokescreen - we are not at liberty to go into specific details of what happened.
“What can be said is that the club made a decision last week to part company with Gareth.
“It was the wrong decision to allow John Collins to appoint Gareth Evans.
“That was the mistake there.”
Ged Nixon said: “We thought he was a very coach but we had concerns about his ability to go from coaching into management which I think it is important to say, we relayed that to John Collins.
