Livingston players head to Hartlepool to see old boss John Hughes

A bus-load of Livingston players headed south on Tuesday night - to watch former boss John ‘Yogi’ Hughes’ team in action.

The former Livi manager moved to the English League One outfit last year and has made an impressive start as they try to dodge the drop.

And Lions players headed south to watch them draw 0-0 with Colchester on Tuesday night.

And with last week’s turmoil following John Collins and Gareth Evans departure from the club, caretaker manager Richie Burke reckons the trip has been a timely break for the players.

He said: “The boys are going on a bonding trip to try.

“It’s a good chance to put things behind us and move forward.

““It was in place before everything else has happened.

“It was driven by a couple of people with very strong connections with Yogi and then people got onboard.

“It’s impressive what an impact the big man had on this club.

“He is still very highly revered here.

“After we talk about our game on a Saturday, the players are always asking ‘how did Hartlepool get on?’”
