Livingston wait to hear SPL decision

Nov 26 2009

by Eric MacKinnon, West Lothian Courier

LIVINGSTON are still awaiting any sanctions, if any, which will be levied on them by the Scottish Football League for boycotting a match against East Stirling earlier this season.

The Lions refused to fulfil the opening fixture as they awaited the outcome of an appeal against their demotion from the First Division.

And this week club bosses were in front of the league management committee at Hampden to plead their case.

A possible points deduction or a fine have been suggested .

However, David Thomson, Operations Director of the SFL, stressed to the Courier no decision on any possible sanctions have been made.

He said: “The situation was discussed at a meeting here at Hampden last Thursday and representatives of Livingston were here in person.

“They submitted a verbal and a written submission to the management committee who will now decided what sanctions, if any, will be taken against the club.

“The matter remains under consideration and it is up to them to see if any action will be taken.

“The first people to know the outcome will be Livingston FC but nothing has been decided at the moment.”
